London to Cape Town by bike completed!
June 07, 2016 | 18,819 km | By Emily
Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past 11 months. On Friday, we were joined by Dame Judith Macgregor, High Commissioner to South Africa and Ed Roman, British Consul General to Cape Town, and our friends Tom and Eva on the last, very windy, 120km to Cape Town.
We were welcomed by James’s parents, our friend Tamara and a surprise welcome from Emily’s dad! It’s certainly been one hell of a journey. 19,000km, through 25 countries, climbing over 120,000m, burning roughly 600,000 calories.
It’s very surreal to actually be here, and we could not have done it without all of your support. Thank you.
We’ll have a full blog post soon but, for now, it’s time for some well deserved R&R and to spend time with family and friends.
If you’ve enjoyed reading this blog post, please donate to World Bicycle Relief. Every penny goes to the great work the charity does in Africa – not to fund our expedition in any way.
